Relax on the sun-splashed wrap-around deck with breakfast and the native birds or skip 2 mins to the local cafe for excellent coffee and breakfast with a view of the iconic Sydney Harbour bridge. Saturday nights, there’s often a firework display to go with your BBQ!

Enjoy cooking with a view in the well-equipped kitchen (help yourself to fresh herbs from the garden), a BBQ on the deck, or an array of great local restaurants. Free wifi, Foxtel (cable) TV and sound system are included. There's a big kids' playroom/bedroom with lots of toys, games, bikes & skateboards. The house is kid friendly for ages 4+. Younger kids are welcome too, but you'll need to watch them on the stairs.

Other things to note

The upper and mid levels have french doors that open wide to the sea breeze. We don't have air conditioning (but there's a cooling fan for hot nights).

The neighbourhood

Balmain East is famed for its tranquility and convenience, due to the close proximity to both the CBD and the lively village shopping, cafes and restaurants of Darling Street. The locals are super-friendly and everything is accessible on foot; children's playgrounds, parks, famous pubs, public transport and waterfront walks are at your doorstep. Free parking is available on the streets around the house.

Getting around

In one of the very best locations for public transport. A regular, city-bound bus service is right at the corner - a 2 minute walk. It's a 3 minute ride to Balmain village or 10-15 minute ride to the central city (QVB). The Balmain East ferry terminal is a 3-5 minute walk from the house. From there, ferries depart in either direction - to Circular Quay (15 minutes) or Darling Harbour (5 minutes). Balmain Thames Street ferry is a 15 minute walk from our place through the local neighbourhood. From there you can take a Cockatoo island-bound ferry. We recommend downloading the Tripview app for real-time public transport information.
